Our dogs love lying on their Kuranda beds. They keep them off of cold drafty floors during the winter and provides excellent ventilation in the hot summer months.
Though they benefit greatly from Kuranda beds, we don't have enough for everyone. If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price so another rescue dog can sleep in comfort, you can do so directly from the Kuranda web site.
Kiah is a referral. Kiah is 2 yrs old, and is very friendly around adults, but has not been around small childern. She's a lover and a licker! She loves her human companions and loves to please them. She would not make an apartment dog as she does best with some outdoor running space or exercise. She is currently kenneled outside during the day, allowed to run the backyard during the evening hours when we are home, and comes inside for bedtime. She is housebroken and will nudge you in the bed in the morning when she needs to go outside to pee. She would probably thrive best with another dog for companionship as she has never been alone. She is currently the lowest dog in the pecking order. She is very devoted and very loving and it breaks my heart to lose her! She knows to come, sit, stay, down, and heel. She knows "off the bed" and "off the couch" and she knows to load in the back of the pickup (while she'll only put her front feet up, you have to do the rest! :) She was taught with German commands but those are very easy to adjust to - Come is "Here", Sit is "Sitz", Heel is "Fuse", Stay is "Blibe" and Down is "Platz". She gets along with most other dog, but does dislike some. Kiah is crate trained, housebroken. She has been raised with three other Rottwielers - either in tact males or breeding females. She has been around one litter of puppies and has tolerated one puppy who is currently 6 months old. She has been introduced to horses and seems cautious around them. She has not been around very many other dogs over the last year but was taken to Puppy class during her first year and has had general obedience. She is very food motivated - great for obedience. She has a high ball drive - great for obedience. She will allow you to grab her food bowl easily, though she inhales her food. She will allow you to grab her toys if you can call her over to you with them! Otherwise, she releases both well. I have not given her the opportunity to be around small children so I have no idea how she would adjust. I have not had the opportunity to expose her to too many other dogs than the ones she's used to at our house so I'm not sure how she'd do with other dogs or how she'd do alone.
