Eileen is located in the Salt Lake City area and decided it best to do a referral for her as she is healing rather than transport her to WY.

Tri-Pawd “Eileen”

Eileen is a 1 year old bundle of wiggles and joy. She is also a spayed Rottweiler. She was surrendered to our animal hospital right before Christmas by a loving family due to complications healing from a severe knee joint injury and an infected foot. We amputated that leg, spayed her, and now she is doing amazing! She is also microchipped and up to date on all of her vaccines.

Eileen is a very curious, excited, sweet playful dog. She hasn’t met
another dog that she doesn’t like, and has even gotten the grumpy old german shepherd in her foster home to play with her. She is very interested in cats, and does well when they stay still to interact, but tries to chase them when they run. She can be
incredulous with strangers and may bark, but quickly warms up to anyone who gives her treats. She used to be in a family with small children, so we think she does well with them as well. She is a strong girl, so that would be the biggest issue with small children. She is very excited and willing to please, and we think she will make an excellent
addition to a family with another dog to play with that isn’t too active (as a TriPawd, she won’t be able to go very long). She already has some training basics - knows sit, shake and down, and always wants to please!

We all love Eileen, and want her to go to a good home that knows about her issues. As a recent amputee, she will need some rehab to strengthen her remaining legs, and will likely need continued rehab at some level for the rest of her life. She initially developed her injury because she had been left alone not in a kennel. We have been keeping her in a kennel in the clinic and in her foster’s home, and she has been doing well. We believe she has some level of separation anxiety that will need to be worked on with a trainer.
She also has a mild case of “entropion” - her lower eyelids are very puffy and turn inward slightly. This does not have any negative effects right now, but may require surgery in the future if it causes damage to her eyes. She barks when she meets new people, but warms up very quickly.
